In recent years there has been a push to restore parts of the Great Plains to the native species that characterized this land over 200 years ago.  As the popularity of native species has increased, the advantages of those species have become more evident.

With this in mind, we restored our first quarter of switchgrass in 1986, marking the birth of Heimbuch Seed Farm.  Since then we have expanded our operation to over 600 acres, mostly under irrigation.  Currently, we are focusing on  producing Big Bluestem, Canada Wildrye, Switchgrass, Purple Prairie Clover, Side Oats Grama, Prairie Cordgrass, Prairie Sandreed, Maximillian Sunflower, Purple Coneflower, Garrison Creeping Foxtail, Junegrass, Indiangrass and Slender Wheatgrass.  

Aside from producing our own seed, we have contract growers throughout the Midwest.  This allows us to have the inventory to meet all our customers’ needs while still maintaining low prices.
